👏🏼The European wood and sawmill industries welcome the Trialogue outcome especially the recognition & support for “temporary carbon storage in long-lasting products (such as wood-based construction) of a duration of at least 35 years and that can be monitored on-site during the entire monitoring period". 🪵Every cubic metre of wood used as a substitute for other building materials reduces CO2 emissions to the atmosphere by an average of 1,1 t CO2. If this is added to the 0,9 t of CO2 stored in wood, each cubic metre of wood saves a total of 2 t CO2. #Wood products play a key role the development of a sustainable #circularbioeconomy. 🌲🌳🪵

Each year, approximately 40-50 million m3 of sediment is dredged from ports and harbors throughout the UK, the vast majority of which is discarded at sea as a waste product. It is essential to create solutions for the advantageous use of dredged materials. (Dubois et al., 2009). Only 1% of dredged materials are used in the UK each year. Sand from sediments natural composition can be added to concrete to be used in building. A different source of sand could lessen the need to extract virgin resources as the world seeks to be more sustainable by using fewer resources.
