ZHENGZHOU, China: Chinese Vice Premier Hu Chunhua called for unremitting efforts to ensure a bumper summer harvest and good fall plantings to meet the annual grain production target.
From Friday to Saturday, Hu traveled to Henan Province, the country’s top wheat producer, to oversee summer harvesting work.
He conducted field inspections to learn about mechanical harvesting work, supply of production materials, grain storage and weather service.
The Deputy Prime Minister said that with wheat having grown well this summer, no effort should be spared to ensure a full harvest. He called for establishing green channels to ensure the free movement of labor and agricultural machinery, and launching hotlines to help resolve issues and difficulties that may affect the summer harvest. .
He also highlighted efforts to collect and store summer grain and oil, and to protect the interests and benefits of wheat farmers.
